Calcium is one of the most important secondary nutrients in cannabis cultivation. It plays a significant role in cell wall formation and supports stable tissues, shoot tips, root development, and many transport processes within the plant.
In living soil, calcium is not simply a deficient nutrient but often a central balancing issue. Its availability is strongly linked to its ratio with magnesium, potassium, water management, and the soil environment. Especially in potted systems or with very soft water, calcium can become a limiting factor.
Calcium problems often manifest in new growth, young shoots, or stunted development. At the same time, calcium is often prematurely supplemented as a standard solution, even though the actual cause lies in the environment, water, or nutrient lockout. Therefore, calcium should always be considered systemically.
