Origin & classification

Cantaloupe Haze combines classic Haze with a Mexican landrace, preserving clearly recognisable characteristics of traditional sativa genetics. The cross became known primarily for its unusually vivid melon aroma. We classify Cantaloupe Haze as a strongly sativa-dominant hybrid with approximately 80 % sativa. Long maturation, vigorous vertical growth and an open flower structure visibly point to this heritage.

Aroma & flavour

Fresh cantaloupe melon takes centre stage, accompanied by tropical fruit and a sweet, almost candy-like facet. Underneath are musky, herbal and spicy Haze tones. On the palate, clear melon sweetness is followed by a classic, plant-like and bitter finish. Terpinolene and myrcene are cited as important components of the profile, while caryophyllene adds a spicy dimension. The actual terpene distribution remains dependent on phenotype, environment and harvest.

The THC content is usually stated as 18 to 24 %; individual batches may differ. The reported effect often sets in quickly and is described as mentally energising, clear, focused and creative. Rather than heavy physical relaxation, the focus is on a stimulating, at times introspective cerebral effect. Cantaloupe Haze is therefore often associated with active parts of the day, conversations or creative activities. How pronounced these characteristics are depends on individual sensitivity, quantity and the specific chemotype.

Effect tendency

Botanically, the strain displays narrow leaves, some of which resemble a crow’s foot, and pronounced vertical stretch during the transition into flowering. The plants grow tall and require sufficient spacing as well as strong lighting. Compared with compact indica strains, their flowers appear looser and airier, yet develop a considerable layer of resin. Low-stress training or a Screen-of-Green system can help limit height, guide branches horizontally and distribute light more evenly.

Cannabinoids, flowering & appearance

At ten to twelve weeks, the flowering period is relatively long; the plant often needs eleven or twelve weeks to develop its full aromatic profile. Yield potential is considered moderate to high. Moderate nutrient provision is preferable to heavy feeding; in particular, excess nitrogen should be avoided during late flowering. Good air movement remains important despite the more open sativa flowers. Due to its stretch and maturation time, Cantaloupe Haze is better suited to more experienced growers. After harvest, a longer, controlled drying and curing phase can round out the delicate melon notes and allow the spicy Haze foundation to emerge more clearly.
