Origin & classification

According to the documented history, Desfrán reached Dutch Passion via Alberto from Argentina and was subsequently introduced in Europe. In South America, the strain had already earned a legendary reputation and achieved several competition successes. Sources list it as a pure Sativa and name Destroyer × Destroyer as the immediate cross. At the same time, they refer to Destroyer’s more distant origins in Mexican Oaxaca, Colombian Punto Rojo and Meao genetics. These levels should not be confused with one another.

Aroma & flavour

According to the breeder’s description, Desfrán requires comparatively few nutrients during vegetative growth. It grows in soil and benefits particularly from abundant root space, but also performs vigorously in other cultivation systems. Its growth corresponds to the described Sativa orientation: The plants can become large, develop long side branches and quickly occupy a great deal of space. Significant stretch is possible during flowering; the source even reports specimens that approximately tripled their starting height. This is a possible breeder-specific trait, not a guaranteed factor.

A flowering time of nine to ten weeks is generally stated. Desfrán develops remarkably dense and compact flowers for a Sativa.
