Beschreibung

Kelp meal is dried and ground seaweed biomass. Use it as a supplementary plant-based ingredient in soil and organic substrates.

Distribute it evenly when mixing soil, add it as topdressing when existing nutrient inputs allow, or include it in a recipe for reusing soil. What your mix already contains is decisive.

Seaweed biomass contains organic components and minerals. Their concentrations and availability depend on the raw material. Kelp meal does not provide complete nutrition and is not a standardised immediate correction for an acute deficiency.

Ground kelp meal differs from liquid or water-soluble seaweed extracts and from calcified seaweed lime. Their application amounts are not interchangeable.

Anwendung & Dosierung

New substrate mix

Mix 0.5–2 g evenly per litre of substrate actually prepared, then moisten the soil as needed.

Topdressing

Spread 5–10 g evenly over the surface per 10 litres of pot volume. Work it gently into the surface and moisten. Avoid damaging roots.

Reusing soil

Take existing ingredients and previous applications into account. If needed, include kelp meal in the full soil-reuse recipe, for example with suitable compost or worm castings. Do not automatically use the amount for a new mix as a replenishment dose.

Planning amounts

Amounts refer to substrate or pot volume, not irrigation water. Do not automatically add the two applications together. Allow for other seaweed-containing products. These amounts do not imply a fixed repeat schedule.

Nutrient concentrations in natural seaweed raw materials can vary. Accurate calculations of individual nutrient inputs require declared concentrations or a suitable product or batch analysis.

The term kelp meal is not a guaranteed NPK analysis. General raw-material tables do not provide measured values for this product.

Compost or worm castings can form part of the same recipe. Select other ingredients for their specific role and account for amounts already added.

Limitations

Kelp meal is not a complete nutrient supply or a substitute for diagnosing plant problems. Fine grinding does not establish suitability for foliar treatment, drip irrigation or recirculating systems. Use only products expressly suitable for those applications.
