Origins & classification
El Niño brings together three defining lines of classic Dutch breeding: Haze, Super Skunk and White Widow. The strain is associated with Green House Seed Co. and the late 1990s. We classify El Niño as an indica-dominant hybrid. Despite its Haze content, its growth structure remains predominantly compact, while White Widow is associated above all with pronounced resin production.
Aroma & flavour
The aroma begins with spicy incense and damp earth. Mature cedarwood, sweet herbs and a sharp citrus note expand the profile. Black pepper and a soft, woody finish are also described in the flavour. Caryophyllene, myrcene and limonene occur as typical terpenes; however, their actual concentrations vary with phenotype, environment and processing. The result is a spicy, earthy aroma with a small bright accent rather than an overtly sweet composition.
Terpene profile
Recurring experience reports mention slowly developing physical relaxation combined with calm, reflective mental clarity. The profile is described as grounding without immediately becoming strongly heavy. Individual perception, dose and tolerance can significantly alter the experience. THC content is also not a fixed strain constant: a range of approximately 15 to 21 percent has been documented. CBD content is stated as below 0.5 percent.
Effect tendency
In cultivation, El Niño develops broad leaves, sturdy stems and short internodes. The plants usually remain low to medium in size and form tightly packed, rounded flower clusters. Individual phenotypes may stretch more strongly, making the Haze influence more visible. The flowers have a favourable calyx-to-leaf ratio and develop dense, sticky trichome coverage early on. Due to the compact canopy and dense flowers, good air movement is particularly important late in flowering.

The photoperiod flowering period lasts approximately eight to nine weeks. Potential yield is described as medium to high, while cultivation is considered moderately difficult. Selective thinning can bring light and air into the dense inner structure. At the same time, the strain is sensitive to excessive nitrogen supply during the early growth phase. These specific characteristics are more helpful than the blanket assumption that a compact plant is automatically easy to grow.
